Diagnose this n2o burp..
« on: May 28, 2008, 10:20:26 AM »

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Esner-vs-McCraryTexas-of_163390.htm

Drove out 1/8 mile normal..  started flaming out exhaust first, did he have a burnt exhaust valve or was he pushing oil or fuel somewhere?  ...then bang!  I thought maybe the trigger for the bang was another stage coming in with a malfunction, but I think the fire underneath was probably a pre-cursor to the bigger problem.

You guys know (of) this guy?  what really happened?

The constant fire afterward was obviously ruptured fuel and/or oil lines.

Lastly, note to self, when car is on fire, don't pull right next to wall trapping your door shut!

This is my track!!! YO!!!!!!  I was there!!!  Felt the heat!!!! IMHO ::) 2nd stage kicked in after 2nd gear.  These guys are like promods, multistage programmable ignitions and such. when you see the flame go out is either the retard+reversion happening or the fuel going away and we all know too much n20 and no fuel=BOOM!  Hell, I don't know.  I am so talking out my butt.  That car burned to the ground. It was crazy wicked awesome!!!!!  Cleanup was crazy long.  I drank 3 beers and gone pee before it was all over.  I remember the final was a camaro shootout but I don't remember who.  As much as I hate to say it is a big reason I go. ;D

  EFI ,
With the amount of timing retard and volume of nitrous and fuel being run through the motor , it is normal for the exhaust flame . Not quite a nitro flame , but pretty cool none the less .
Two things come to mind with what happened . First thing I would say is that it broke a valve train component on the exhaust side . Next time around it had to go somewhere , back out the intake valve is the only place it can go . There's your fuse.
Second is he lifted because he saw he was getting beat , lifted and a nitrous solenoid stuck or even the entire system stayed on .
None the less , your right about not trapping yourself against the wall . And with all the people who ran behind the car , you would hope where would have been at least one who would have had the sense to turn the master switch off.....maybe the car would not have been totaled . Happy to see that the driver did not die from being burned to death.....!
